Given the nature and length of these materials, and the amount of information about our known about pathogens and disease, covering this content over multiple days is ideal to facilitate students learning and allow for process time. I've found:
- Covering 2 pathogens per day (i.e., Day 1: viruses and bacteria / Day 2: fungi and parasites)., is ideal to allow students learning and process time.
- They can be given as:
- direct instruction (”Live mode” in Nearpod),
- independent work, (”Student-paced” in Nearpod),
- a combo of student solo/partner work
- using the posters for the “Gallery Walk” or
- as a remediation tool and re-qualifier to re-take a test and more!

I like to project/display a student version of the Nearpod on my whiteboard in the event that students’ devices are not working for some reason. - Use interactive notebooks like me?! Well, these fit in perfectly! Simply print the pages landscape and fold each one in half – like a book (hamburger style). Then, glue the sides to each other to create a "booklet”, gluing the first and last ”outer” sides to the notebook page within each notebook spread! and tape the spine to the notebook page! Voilà! You are set!
